Certificated Laser Protection Adviser, LPA
Legally, businesses must demonstrate that they have appointed a 'competent person' to oversee their risk assessment and risk management.
For most areas of health and safety, this competence often already exists in-house. However, for certain hazards, external specialist help will usually be required. It is therefore common for businesses using lasers (and other intense light sources) to appoint a laser protection adviser.
