Target Delegates
All professionals involved with the use of medical and cosmetic lasers or intense pulsed light (IPL) equipment. Ideal for laser operators and those undertaking (or planning to undertake) the roles of Laser Protection Supervisor (LPS)/ Laser Safety Officer (LSO).
Aim of the Laser/IPL Safety Management Course
To provide participants with an understanding of the legal and operational safety requirements concerning laser and IPL equipment, focusing on medical and cosmetic applications. Session content:
- Laser/intense light generation and characteristics

Tissue interaction (esp. eye and skin exposure)

Hazards and risks of intense light sources

Risk assessment and safety management

Equipment management and quality assurance
The day will also serve as a useful update and will cover the many changes in Laser/IPL regulation in the UK:
- Control of Artificial Radiation at Work Regulations 2010
- CQC (de)regulation and the Health and Social Care Regulations 2010
- Local Authority Regulation (e.g. special treatment licence conditions under the London Local Authority Act)
